About this experience
A historian of Rajput and Mughal India leads you on foot through the chowkris of Jai Singh II’s planned city, decoding its astronomy, its nine-square geometry and the guild streets that still beat behind the façades.
You slip into hidden temple courtyards, a working stepwell and the upper galleries of a merchant haveli, the stories of the maharajas, their astronomers and their craftsmen unfolding as you go. The walk ends under your guide’s eye at the instruments of the Jantar Mantar observatory.
