The full Japan in nine nights — built around the JR Pass

Nine nights and four cities — the comprehensive Japan trip for travellers who want to see it all. The 7-day JR Pass (~¥50,000 per person) becomes good value at this length, covering all your Shinkansen between cities plus local JR lines for free. Days 1-3 Tokyo (Asakusa, Imperial Palace, Shibuya, Harajuku, optional Toyosu market). Day 4 Hakone for Mt Fuji and an onsen night. Days 5-7 Kyoto (Fushimi Inari, Arashiyama, Gion, tea ceremony, day-trip to Nara). Day 8 Hiroshima for the Atomic Bomb Dome + Peace Memorial Museum, with a Miyajima island half-day for the floating torii. Day 9 Osaka for Dotonbori food crawl, Osaka Castle, and a final-night okonomiyaki dinner. Return from Kansai (KIX).

Questions, answered.

When should I book a Japan trip?

+

For cherry-blossom season (late March to mid April) and autumn leaves (mid November), book 4–6 months ahead — flights and ryokan rooms sell out further out than any other season. For other months, 60–90 days is fine.

Is the JR Pass included?

Vegetarian and Jain food?

Will my Indian phone work?

Is the JR Pass really worth it for this trip?
